Group exhibits long life in town

AN ARTISTIC group will be celebrating its 70th anniversary with a special month-long event in the Stump.

The Boston Art Group was formed in 1941 by Ben Simpson.

It aimed to promote and encourage local artists in visual arts and crafts.

Now, to celebrate the milestone it is holding its annual summer exhibition in The Stump from July 30 until August 22.

The group does not offer professional teaching but does finance visits of professional artist demonstrators and lecturers and offers in-house tuition by members.

It is a non-profit making organisation with membership open to all adults.

The group meets on Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm at the Centenary Church Hall, and on Thursday afternoons from 1-3pm at Wings Meadow, Freiston Road, in Boston.

Non-members are welcome to visit sessions and demonstrations.

Entry to the exhibition next month will be free.
