ADULT sports participation has increased in Boston more than anywhere else in England over the last four years, with the exception of one local authority.
The proportion of adults taking part in sport three times a week or more has climbed from 7.36 per cent to 21.9 per cent since 05/06, Sport England say.
Out of 339 local authorities, only Crewe and Nantwich has had a bigger rise, at 7.8 per cent.
In 05/06, Boston was bottom out of the district authorities and second from bottom overall (above Newham in London).
Lincolnshire Sports Partnership said the results highlight the ‘huge effect’ its work and that of its partners has had in the county, and particularly Boston.
