FORMER Coronation Street star Bruce Jones is pay a special visit to a Boston event about mental health.
The Corrie star will be one of many mental health supporters raising money for local charities at the free ‘Mad and Proud’ evening of live entertainment on Friday.
Bruce, who used to star in the ITV soap as loud mouth Les Battersby, will be one of several acts taking to the stage at the Coach & Horses pub to raise the profile of mental health discrimination.
The event is being organised by community mental health worker, Jon Carroll, and is supported by Comic Relief and local homeless charity, Centrepoint Outreach.
It will feature singer songwriters and a DJ, all of whom have donated their time free of charge.
Jon said: “The Mad and Proud event will give people a chance to find out more about mental health by talking to others with personal experience. We want to see this as an effective way to break down stigma and promote an inclusive community.”
Funds will be raised through a raffle which will be split evenly between the two charities. Many local businesses have generously supported the cause by donating high value prizes.
The free event starts at 7pm and runs until late at the pub, in Main Ridge, Boston.
