TWO ‘life-savers’ from Boston have been honoured with awards for donating blood 75 times each.

Yvonne Martin and Mavis Archern were among 39 others in the county to be awarded by NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) at a ceremony in Lincoln.

The organisation says only three per cent of donors reach this milestone, making it ‘a real achievement’.

Guest speakers on the night were Marie Collinson-Wallace and Olivia Wallace, who have benefitted from receiving blood donations.

Holly Mason, lead donor relations manager for the National Blood Service, said: “It is a pleasure to thank our dedicated donors in this way. They continue to make time to donate come rain or shine and really are the lifeblood of our service.”

She added: “It’s vital people donate regularly to make sure we can meet hospital demands.”
