A donation made by a grateful patient has helped to improve care in Pilgrim Hospital’s Breast Unit.
Janet Morris donated £250, half of the money given to for her 60th birthday. The remaining money has been given to the Parkinson’s Society.
Mrs Morris said: “Myself and my sister-in-law, Mary Sellars, attended the Boston Breast Unit for routine mammograms last year. Unfortunately Mary’s mammogram proved to be positive for cancer and she underwent surgery.
“We are extremely grateful for the excellent care given to her by all the staff within the unit and hopefully this money will help towards purchasing equipment to help patient’s treatment and care in the future.”
Mr Pore, consultant breast and general surgeon said: “We are extremely grateful to Mrs Morris for her generosity and the kindness of her family and friends. The money raised will be used towards the purchase of essential equipment to help further improve services.”
Doreen Macaskill-Refaat, breast care nurse said: “It is heart-warming to know that people think of us and our patients here on the unit and I would like to thank Mrs Morris.”
