Shaun ‘Starky’ Stark had a special design added to his race car bonnet to support the Ingamells family’s aim to raise cash for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Haven High Academy pupil Kelsey Ingamells, 12, and her baby brother Toby, 20 months, both suffer with the life-limiting condition.

Their parents Nick and Jasia, of Boston, were over the moon when their friend Shaun Stark offered to help out with the fundraising.

At a race in the Adrian Flux arena, Kelsey joined Shaun for a pre-race lap of the track to collect donations from the crowd – raising an impressive £812. This was later boosted to £1,150.05 with support on social media.

Dad Nick said: “Cystic fibrosis is a condition caused by a faulty gene that controls the movement of salt and water in and out of cells this causes mucus to gather in the lungs and digestive system and creates a range of challenging symptoms.

“It was Shaun who arranged with Paul Butler, the promotor of track star racing, to do a collection for cystic fibrosis. It was a lovely sunny day and lots of people turned up. Shaun took time out from sorting and repairing his banger to push Kelsey in her wheelchair around the arena with collection buckets.”

Shaun won the entertainers trophy on the day and came second in the derby.

The family offered thanks to all who donated, with a special mention for supporters Gary Marston, Andy Ladds, Colin Casey, Tom Crowden, Steve Dartnell of Auto Rex, and John Proctor for their ‘very healthy donations’ - and to Shaun Stark ‘for making this possible’.

The money has now been donated to the charity which supports those with the condition and funds research into it.
