Only 40 per cent of Lincolnshire NHS staff would recommend treatment at our hospitals

NHS staff in Lincolnshire are the second least likely in the country to recommend their hospitals to friends and family.
Figures released as part of an annual survey of staff show that just 40 per cent of workers at United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust agree or strongly agree with the statement: ‘If a friend or relative needed treatment I would be happy with the standard of care provided by this organisation’.
Only North Cumbria University Hospitals has a lower figure.
The trust, which runs Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital, is under the spotlight over its high death rate in the aftermath of the Mid Staffordshire Hospital scandal.
In a statement, it said: “We acknowledge the results of the survey, and are using these results as part of a range of feedback from staff and patients to continuously identify where further improvements can be made across our services.
“In the last few months we have been one of the first trusts in the country to launch a new national vision for nursing which focuses on compassion and commitment in care, we have increased the presence of consultants on wards and have introduced a ‘plan for every patient’ which details every step of care and treatment a patient will receive and when they will receive it.
“Regulators have recently reported that we have made many improvements over the last year, but we recognise there is still more work to do.
“We are committed to delivering high quality services and continue to build on these recent improvements.
“From Sept to Dec 2012, we were one of the top 25 per cent of trusts in our region for which patients would recommend our hospitals to family and friends.”
