Two Pilgrim Hospital doctors - one British, one Polish - are to embark on a sponsored 100-mile cycle ride to raise cash for a Boston-based charity.
Chris Lowry helps run a small cause called Names Not Numbers - which provides vital help for community charities in the developing world.
He and Polish doctor Daniel Eriksson will be joined by three others from around the UK for the ride from Boston to Hull via the east coast.
“We will be starting in Boston, then stopping to collect money at beaches along the way,” said Mr Lowry, 28.
“We currently help fund an orphanage in India and one in South Africa. We have absolutely no admin or advertising costs and all our UK workers are volunteers so every single penny goes directly to helping those in need.
“We’ve also got a friend helping out by driving a support car, and helping out when we stop off at beaches to raise money (and eat ice cream) on the way.”
Businesses Lincs Print, Noel Craft Cycles and The New Inn have offered sponsorship help – with T-shirt printing, cycling gear/repairs, and the use of a campover site.
