A Wrangle resident whose bin was left unemptied because of the snow has complained of ‘health concerns’, after she was told she must wait another two weeks for the next collection.

Boston Borough Council said on Monday that refuse staff would not be collecting rubbish as the wintry conditions were too dangerous. Residents who missed out on their usual collections will not not have their bins emptied until their next scheduled date.

Marian Middlebrook said she and other residents on Church Close suffered problems with rats because of the dyke at the back of their homes, and she was worried the build up of rubbish would only make the problem worse.

She told The Standard: “It might be a health and safety concern that means the lorries are not coming out, but it is a health concern if they don’t come out to us,

“The bin is overflowing already. What are we supposed to do with these black bags when the rats come?”

Green waste collections were also hampered by the bad weather, as much of the waste was frozen into bins when staff tried to remove it.
