Super slimmers shed the pounds
While many are starting out the New Year with resolutions to lose weight and get fitter – members of one local Slimming World group are already ahead of the game, having lost a whopping 162 stones in the last 12 months.
Wyberton Parish Hall Slimming World group has collectively lost 2,270lbs
Slimming consultant Helen Leak said: “It’s been a fantastic year with so many people losing weight and making themselves and their families much healthier.
“This year has seen friends, new mums, couples, mothers and daughters and brides-to-be lose weight. We have even seen pregnant women maintaining weight (thanks to the collaboration with the Royal College of Midwives) – proving that Slimming World really is a great way to lose weight. With no food banned and certain foods free to eat whenever you are hungry, you can understand why so many people join Slimming World.”
Slimming World has three plans including a special plan for 11-15 year-olds which one member at Wyberton followed allowing her to fit into size 12 jeans just in time for Christmas.
Another success story from the group is new mum Lisa Beck (pictured).
It is the support of the group which has seen Lisa – called ‘Wyberton’s Miss Slinky’ by the group – lose nearly 4st 7lbs this year.
This is despite being a new mum and comes after losing more than three stone to get to her chosen personal achievement target.
Helen said: “Thanks to Slimming World’s unique Image Therapy, Lifeline Online and the support of her midwife, Lisa is keeping her pregnancy gain to a minimum and is the healthiest she has ever been.”
Along with improving their figures, losing weight has also improved members’ health by lowering their blood pressure, reducing the risk of heart disease and strokes and lowering their need for medication.
