Boston Woods volunteers planting 3,000 oak trees in three hours at Jenny's Wood off West End Road, Wyberton. L-R Julia Barnard, Samantha Barnard, Shona Buton, Jackie South and Peter Mills.

The Boston Woods Trust and NHS have teamed up to make it easier for people to enjoy a spot of outdoor exercise with healthy walks.

To help make sure everyone has the opportunity to make exercise part of their life, the NHS has helped fund the laying of further paths by the woods trust.

There are now 6km of paths completed in Westgate Wood and at the adjacent Sir Joseph Banks Park and Jenny’s Wood.

These are all accessible from parking areas off West End Road and Five House Lane, Wyberton. Most paths have an-all weather finish so that even when it’s wet outside it shouldn’t be muddy under foot.

For those who like the idea of getting fitter, improving the local environment and meeting like-minded people, everyone is being encouraged take part in Boston Wood Trust’s tree planting events.

These will be held at Westgate Wood from Thursday, January 31, to Saturday, February 2, from 9.30am-1.30pm each day.

Volunteers will be working from the car parking area off Old Hammond Beck Road by Westgate Wood.

Anyone planning to go along are advised to wear suitable footwear and don’t forget your spade – trees are provided!

Further information is available at www.bostonwoods.co.uk or phone Adrian Isaac 01205365949.
