Hospital bosses are hoping to rally patients into celebrating their outstanding staff with what is hoped to be a year-round scheme.
United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust launched its annual staff awards in July, with a new ‘entirely patient focussed’ award.
The Great Patient Experience Award will invite nominations from service users, families and visitors and is about recognising individual staff or teams who have made a significant impact upon improving the patient experience in their work area or across the whole hospital. A spokesman for Pilgrim Hospital said they had already received more than 40 nominations across the trust.
Trust chairman Ron Buchanan said: “Our staff awards are a great showcase for the wonderful work our colleagues do on a daily basis. I am really pleased that nominations are now open throughout the year and would encourage everyone to put forward individuals and teams deserving of broader recognition.”
There are a total of 13 award categories, including Compassion and Respect Towards Others, Unsung Heroes, Extra Mile Award and Great Leadership.
The trust has also opened nominations for the awards all-year round so that patients can make their nominations at any time.
To nominate a member of staff visit www.ulh.nhs.uk or pick up a nomination form from Pilgrim Hospital’s main receptions or outpatient departments.
All entries will be assessed by a shortlisting panel and will be put forward to a judging panel by the end of January 2016. The winner will be announced in March.
