A high demand for beds and services at Pilgrim Hospital has lead to an appeal for people to only use accident and emergency if ‘absolutely necessary’.
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust said services are also affected at Lincoln County Hospital and Grantham Hospital. To cope with the demand, the hospital has opened additional beds and is being supported by local commissioners and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to ensure beds are freed up when possible.
A ULHT spokesman said: “We are asking members of the public to help us during this busy time and only use A&E if absolutely necessary. If you need medical help fast, call NHS 111 24 hours a day or seek advice from your GP or pharmacist.”
