Free health checks will be available to people visiting an NHS bus, which will call at various stops in and around Boston next week.
NHS Lincolnshire East Clinical Commissioning Group (LECCG) has teamed up with Pfizer and Lincolnshire Co-op to offer free health checks at the following locations between 10am – 4pm:
Monday, September 8 – Pilgrim Hospital, outside the maternity unit
Wednesday, September 10 – Assembly Rooms, Fish Hill
Thursday, September 11 - Tesco, New Hammond Beck Road, Wyberton
Friday, September 12 – Pilgrim Hospital, outside the maternity unit
Each health check – comprising of blood pressure, blood glucose/diabetes and lung capacity – takes approximately ten minutes and is carried out by a trained health professional.
In addition, visitors to the bus will also be asked to complete a short survey about their views on local health services.
LECCG chief nurse Tracy Pilcher said: “It is worth spending a few minutes having a free health check because it can help detect health issues you weren’t aware of, such as high blood pressure or high blood glucose. A health professional will discuss your results with you in private and make suggestions that could help you improve your health and change your life.
“In addition to the health checks, we are really keen to talk to as many people as possible about what they think about local health services, which we are responsible for buying.”
Anyone who wants to fill in the survey who is unable to visit the health bus can log on to www.lincolnshireeastccg.nhs.uk
