CARERS in Boston are being given the chance to meet regularly over coffee, with qualified carers on hand to discuss concerns.
Figures from September, 2010, show there are 66,000 carers registered in Lincolnshire alone – many caring for older people or those suffering from debilitating conditions such as dementia.
Staff at Park Place Retirement Village, in Sleaford Road, Boston, work with those who need residential, nursing and dementia care – enabling them to listen to concerns and talk through possible solutions to every day issues.
Village manager Tina Stebbings said: “If any of our staff are able to offer advice or solutions to any issues they may be facing we’re more than happy to help.”
The retirement village is launching Coffee for Carers on Thursday, September 1. The event will then be held on the first Thursday of each month. It is free to carers and those they care for.
Carers can drop in for coffee and cake between 10.30am-noon and bring those they care for too.
