PILGRIM REPORT TWO: Rearranged appointments at the Pilgrim by department

More eye appointments have to be changed at the Pilgrim than any other department, but the numbers dropped dramatically last year.

Figures showed 5,938 ophthalmology dates were changed in 2012/13 – but that was down from 10,911 the year before and had risen each year from 2008/09.

Rheumatology saw the number of re-arranged appointments almost double from 796 to 1,510, while the Ear Nose and Throat department saw 1,492 appointments resceduled in 2012/13 up from 801 in 2011/12.

In total there were 21 departments in which the number of appointments that had to be rearranged fell in 2012/13 and 21 departments where the numbers increased.

The number of waiting list admissions that were postponed was as follows:

○ 2012/13 - 482

○ 2011/12 - 640

The trust said that people with waiting list admissions had to wait, on average, 18.75 days between their original appointment and the new date.
