The Government has today placed the trust that runs Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital in ‘special measures’ after a major report into high death rates.
Health secretary Jeremy Hunt told the House of Commons that United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust is one of 11 trusts that face special measures following a review conducted by Sir Bruce Keogh.
That means external teams will be sent in, further inspections will take place and the trust will be partnered with another ‘high performing trust’.
ULHT said it accepts the findings of the review and said work is underway to tackle the urgent improvements highlighted by the review.
