Community projects which aim to improve the appearance of an area and enhance it for residents could be in line for a cash injection.

Following the success of five Placecheck projects around the borough, Boston Town Area Committee (BTAC) has put aside a chunk of funding to help groups which want to get behind similar projects to transform neighbourhoods in the town centre area.

Projects could include anything from tackling litter and graffiti to drawing the community together to improve the area in other ways.

A total of £4,500 has been put aside to help get these projects off the ground and purchase necessary items.

At the committees meeting on Wednesday, Coun Paul Gleeson said: “There are areas of my ward (Skirbeck) that are not covered by a Placecheck, and it seems a shame that this really effective scheme only exists in parts of the borough. It’s something we should be working towards expanding.”

Along with financial help, support is available from council staff, who can help put people in touch with agencies who may be able to help. Contact Maddy Eyre on 01205 314340, or email maddy.eyre@boston.gov.uk
