THE street-by-street details of the Olympic Torch Relay’s route through Wrangle and Boston have been revealed.
The flame is due to pass through the area on Wednesday, June 27, as part of its nationwide tour ahead of the London Games, which begin on July 27.
The Games organisers have also released details of the people given the honour of carrying the iconic torch through the area.
The list of torchbearers includes three Boston High School students Nesta Baxter, 11, Katie Walmsley, 12, and Shannon Williams-Holland, 15.
Kickboxing, cross country runner Nesta will carry it in Grimsby, Shannon will take it through Spalding and Katie will be one of the team passing through Boston.
High School head teacher Dr Jason Howard said: “Each of the students concerned is thrilled at this once in a lifetime opportunity.”
The first runner will begin carrying the torch along the A52 in Wrangle at 2pm at the junction with Sea Lane before passing passing Chapel Lane (2.04pm), Broadgate and Tooley Lane (2.07pm), Mel Marshall Way (2.10pm), Church End (2.14pm) and finishing at the junction with Gowt Bank at 2.15pm.
The convoy then moves on to Boston with the flame heading along the A16 Spilsby Road from Boston High School at around 2.31pm on Wednesday, June 27, passing Mayfair Gardens (2.33pm), Freiston Road (2.37pm), onto Wide Bargate (2.41pm), past Tawney Street (2.42pm), past Petticoat Lane (2.45pm), into Market Place (2.46pm), over Town Bridge (2.46pm), into High Street (2.47pm), into Bridge Street (2.48pm), past Paddock Grove (2.49pm), onto A52 Sleaford Road (2.49pm), over the railway lines (2.52pm), past Portland Street (2.53pm), past Frampton Place (2.54pm), past Woodville Road (2.55pm), past Old Mill Court (2.58pm), past South Parade (3.02pm), past Arundel Crescent (3.03pm), finishing on the A1121 Boardsides (3.06pm).
The torchbearers in Wrangle are Adi Hamnett, 36, from Tattershall, Paul McCarthy, 48, from Lincolnshire, Paul Timms, 45, from Billinghay and Sophie Harris, 17, from Lincoln.
In Boston it will be carried by Ian Sharkey, 69, from Bourne, Arran Brindle, 30, from Louth, Billy Ryan Osborne, 20, from Boston, Emma Gibbs, 12, from Cambridgeshire, Graham Colam, 47, from Grantham, Katie Walmsley, 12, from Boston, Russell Winfield, 51, from Grantham, Steve Dawson, 51, from Boston, Stuart Davidosn, 53, from Boston, Susan Oakley, 52, from Peterborough and Tracey Lamb, 16, from Grantham.
Boston Borough Council leader, Coun Peter Bedford, said: “I am delighted with the route the Olympic Torch will take through Boston, passing, as it will, in the shadow of the iconic Boston Stump and through our newly-refurbished Market Place. We are slightly disappointed that we don’t have more torchbearers actually from the borough.”
