A SCHOOLGIRL from Boston has lead out the Royal Navy’s rugby team in front of more than 65,000 cheering fans at Twickenham, while her dad rallied the team from the sidelines.

Jasmine Coates, seven, was one of the mascots as the Navy took on the Army at the home of English rugby last month, while dad Ashley lead the team as their head coach.

“She was nervous but enjoyed every minute of it,” said her mum Sarah, who was watching from the stands along with Jasmine’s sister Hollie, who previously had the honour.

“We were all very proud – it was a big achievement for her,” added Sarah.

Jasmine is a pupil at Tower Road Academy and Ashley is an Chief Petty Officer in the Navy.

Unfortunately, on the day the two didn’t get the result they had hoped for as favourites Army won the Babcock Trophy 19-6.
