Yet another Boston store is under threat of closure, as Thomas Cook announced it would be shutting shops around the UK.

The travel agent released a statement this morning saying that 2,500 jobs were to be made redundant around the UK, and just under 200 stores could be at risk of closing, in a bid to ‘restructure’ its UK business.

A statement from the company said: “It is never easy to make decisions that impact directly on our people, but we also owe it to our customers to shape the business effectively and ensure that, when they book their holiday with us, our administrative costs are as low as possible.”

It has not yet been revealed which shops are at risk of closure, but a spokesman said it should be known by tomorrow whether or not Boston’s Pescod Square store would be remaining open.
