ORGANISERS of the Boston Dragon Boat Festival are reminding people that they still have time to sign up a team to take part and raise money for charity.
The event, taking place on August 14, at the Witham Way Country Park, Tattershall Road, is the first such event in town.
It hopes to raise money for S. John Stevens Memorial Trust which aims to promote healthy living by supporting healthy heart charities including The British Heart Foundation and Pilgrim Heart and Lung Foundation.
It is hoped there will be a number of stalls, food stands and possibly even a fun fair, and that more than 3,000 people will attend the event.
Organiser David Witts said: “No previous experience is required and the festival promises a fantastic day out for all the teams and their families.
“The boating will be supplemented by plenty of fun activities on the bank including Chinese Lion dancers, an outside bar and catering, and several other activities.”
The event is being organised by Gable Events and will include the teams taking turns on the boats through a series of heats.
Six will then go through to the semi-finals before the final showdown.
The final entry closes at 11am on Monday, August 8, with the heat team draw at 2pm.
Entry costs £400 per crew and must comprise 8-10 paddlers, plus a drummer.
The minimum age is 16 years and no previous experience is required.
