Open Letter to Boston Mayflower Tenants: Dear fellow tenants, during the last two weeks you will have received a pamphlet from

Boston Mayflower titled ‘Governance – A Consultation On How The Business is Run’.

The document announces Boston Mayflower’s intent to reconfigure the main board of directors which currently consists of six tenant board directors and six Boston Mayflower appointed board directors.

It is their intention to prevent tenants sitting on the board by right and have 12 directors appointed by Boston Mayflower running the company.

In my opinion having tenant members on the board of directors is a safeguard of our interests and a board consisting solely of Boston Mayflower appointed directors may not always have the best interests of tenants at heart.

In effect Boston Mayflower would be controlled and policed by itself and that thought is a little scary.

Boston Mayflower is pushing the new customer scrutiny panel as the tenants safeguard but the powerhouse of any company is the board of directors.

They have the power to set up and remove panels at will.

Our only safeguard is having tenant directors sitting on the board.

We the tenants have the power to prevent this change taking place, all we have to do is say NO.

If you are in agreement please tick NO to question 1 on the survey form at the back of the pamphlet and return it by free post to Boston Mayflower.

The survey can also be completed online by accessing their website www.bostonmayflower.org.uk and clicking on the link Governance

Consultation Survey.

A number of tenants I have spoken to had thrown away the pamphlet without realising how important the document was.

If you have done the same please ring Boston Mayflower and they will send you another copy or if you have access to the internet complete the survey on line.
