No apology for clamping down

I MUST take issue with Helen Sheridan-Shinn's letter (Those who have earned out of migrants should now help them).

Genuine asylum seekers and legitimate migrants have access to support provided through the UK's immigration laws.

By the same token, those who are in the UK illegally have no right to the support Mrs Sheridan-Shinn calls for. We expect them to return home and if they will not do so voluntarily we will take action to enforce it.

Mrs Sheridan-Shinn is dismissive of the impact of illegal working, but I make no apology for clamping down on it. It is a crime that not only undercuts local business but has a serious impact on local communities, taking jobs from those who are genuinely allowed to work.
