Please help save the Legion

The Boston and District Branch of The Royal British Legion is very proud of the fact it is the seventh oldest branch of the Legion in the country and the oldest in the County of Lincolnshire but unless it can find volunteers to assist with The Poppy Appeal and help the branch we may be forced to close.

Our Poppy Appeal organiser, Mr Andy Holland will be unable to carry on beyond this year due to work commitments, our treasurer Mrs Michelle Houldershaw will be unable to continue beyond our annual general meeting in November because she has recently started training to become an ordained vicar and her husband and our branch chairman, Mr Mike Houldershaw has said that he will be unable to carry on beyond the AGM as he must concentrate on looking after his family.

We hope to be able to fill these positions from within our existing membership but we need new blood.

Through your newspaper can we appeal to your readers to help the Legion?

Our work will continue in the town but without new members it will be increasingly difficult.

You don't have to be ex-armed forces to become a member, in fact you don't have to be a member to support the work of the Legion so if there is anybody interested would they please contact me, Branch Secretary Stephen Morrison on Boston 350387 or via the e-mail rblboston@aol.com

Our branch website available from the Legion's website will provide more details of what we do.

'We Will Remember Them'.
