Life sentence for man who killed estranged wife

BOSTON man Antonio Goncalves has today (Wednesday) been jailed for life with a minimum term of 28 years after a jury convicted him of the murder of his estranged wife and the attempted murder of her new partner.

Goncalves stabbed mother-of-three Isabel Trindade 21 times and also inflicted life threatening injuries on her boyfriend Christopher Ayres who intervened in an attempt to protect her.

At Lincoln Crown Court Judge Michael Heath told him he had been found guilty on overwhelming evidence.

Goncalves, 45, of Ingram Road, Boston, had denied the murder of Ms Trindade on October 7, 2010, and the attempted murder of Mr Ayres.
