Hospital chiefs and inspectors were being called on to do more to help Pilgrim Hospital following a highly critical report.

Following another report which labelled the hospital as ‘failing’, patients and staff members, through The Standard, called for an end to the ‘talking down’ of the Pilgrim, and for action to help and support the staff who do a good job in tough circumstances.

○ Four revellers on a night out shot to fame after the borough council released CCTV of them fixing a bike rack outside a Boston kebab shop.

Dean Martin and Martin Griggs (pictured) were out with Dan Butler and Simon McMillan when they spotted the rack at the end of the night and decided to mend it.

The video of the lads had more than two million views worldwideand saw them feature on international TV. The lads were also given an award and slap-up meal.

○ An extraordinary New York woman featured on the front for sharing her home with more than 300 animals – many of which had been saved from death.

Tamara Lloyd dedicated her life to caring for 38 horses, 38 dogs, 34 cats, seven pigs, about 100 pigeons, 20 chickens, 15 rabbits, 15 geese, three ducks, two turkeys, five terrapins, 38 mice, 15 Russian hamsters and 17 gerbils.
