A 70-year-old woman was punched in the face by a pedestrian in Boston yesterday afternoon.

Police say the victim was driving her silver Ford KA along Main Ridge in the direction of Vauxhall Road at about 3.40pm when the incident happened.

A force spokesman said that, as the car approached the traffic lights on Vauxhall Bridge, a male stepped into the road causing her to brake sharply.

The man, described as tall, slim and possibly aged about 17, is then said to have walked to the driver’s side of the car and punched the woman once on the side of the face through the open window before walking off.

PC Emma Dalton is appealing to any motorists or pedestrians who were in the area at the time, and who witnessed the incident, to contact her by dialling 101 and quoting the incident number 283 of April 12.
