'Absolutely brilliant' open day at town's cemetery

Monday - AN 'ABSOLUTELY brilliant' event has been held at a Boston Cemetery.

The Boston Victorian Cemetery, on Horncastle Road, is estimated to have had more than 200 visitors on Sunday.

The free event held by the Boston Victorian Cemetery Trust was opened by the Mayor of Boston, Coun Peter Jordan.

It included a boot fair, outdoor sculptures, a crematoria tour, charity stalls and wildlife events.

There was also tree planting and a Herbert Ingram Memorial Service marking 150 years since his death.

Organiser Johnathon Brackenbury said: "We're very pleased and think people had a good day.

"The trust would like to thank everyone who attended and helped us make the event a success."

He said one of the main draws to the event was the Victorian horse-drawn hearse.

Despite the success of the day, organisers did feel that health and safety regulations put a dampener on the event.
