Are you entitled to Carer's Credit?

Thursday - THOUSANDS of carers in Boston could be missing out on help towards building up their state pension, the Government's Department for Work and Pensions is advising.

Carer's Credit ensures a person's National Insurance record is credited for the time they are caring, helping them build up qualifying years for the basic state pension and additional state pension.

People giving up their time for 20 hours or more a week to provide unpaid care for a loved one, who are not claiming Carer's Allowance, could qualify.

Those claiming Carer's Allowance receive the credit automatically, but not all carers are eligible for Carer's Allowance.

If you think you may be eligible visit the direct.gov website (www.direct.gov/en/CaringForSomeone/MoneyMatters/DG_10038111) for more information and an application form, call 0845 608 4321 or text 0845 604 5312.
