Boston businesses show they have the X Factor at awards ceremony

Outstanding business success in Boston was celebrated last night.

This year’s Boston Business Awards, held at the PRSA, showcased the very best the town has to offer.

Following a three-course meal there was a speech from special guest Mark Hardy, strategic planning director at Sony Music.

He plays a central role in Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment empire, working on shows such as the X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

He is responsible for marketing world-renowned recording artists including Leona Lewis, One Direction and more recently last year’s X Factor winners, Little Mix.

Previously, he worked at The Walt Disney Company and Sony PlayStation.

The evening was compered by BCC Radio Lincolnshire’s Melvyn Prior.

And the winners are:

Runners-up: Thurlby Motors and Boston Produce Ltd

Contribution to The Community

Winner: Food4Thought GB

Runners-up: Boston in Bloom and Thurlby Motors

Best Use of Innovation and Technology

Winner: Thurlby Motors

Runners-up: Apcore Creative Media and Darren Garwood Photography

Best New Business

Winner: St George’s Preparatory School

Runners-up: Clean Safe Window Cleaning and Afrotec Hair and Beauty

Green Award

Winner: Freshtime UK Ltd

Runners-up: Pescod Square and Aaron Services Ltd

Customer Service Award (as voted for by the readers of The Boston Standard)

Winner: Taylored Security Services

Runners-up: Nevitas Hair and Beauty and Concreation
