A new portable building is to boost dog rehomings at Jerry Green Dog Rescue at Algarkirk.
The 34’ X 10’ building, provided by Portable Offices, offers a reception and office area where potential adopters can meet rescue dogs in a specially designated quiet, enclosed area.
The rescue takes in stray and abandoned dogs from the South Lincolnshire area and rehomes them. There are currently around 22 dogs seeking new kind, loving homes and the new cabin will provide an ideal ‘meet and match’ area.
Howard Bridges, head of estates for JG Dog Rescue, said: “A calm enclosed area provides an ideal situation for visitors to meet their new pets. The cabin is clean, warm, airy and inviting and the service we received from Portable Offices was superb.
“The team worked in tandem with us to produce the end result, which is everything we hoped for. They were professional throughout and resolved any problems quickly and effectively.”
The unit is sited in a dedicated area where staff can focus on the needs of the dogs and visitors without other distractions.
Dean Dixon, manager of Portable Offices’ Derby depot, said: “We needed to provide an additional three external doors for easy access by the dogs and handlers, this all went smoothly and the unit was installed within a three week lead time.”
Jerry Green Dog Rescue has a caring ethos which puts the dogs in its care at the centre of everything it does. It also operates a policy whereby prospective adopters are introduced to dogs in a neutral environment away from the kennel, resulting in less stress for the dog and increasing the chances of permanent homes being found.
The Algarkirk site is currently undergoing refurbishment and is one of five dog rehoming centres located throughout Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
Their adoption process involves a number of introductory visits and the rehoming team provide pre and post adoption support to ensure the move to the dog’s new home is as smooth as possible.
The charity receives no Government or National Lottery funding. This means it is dependent on the generosity of public and corporate donations.
