Churches will be pulling out the stops and decking out their buildings with floral displays as part of their annual flower festival events.
The traditional dates normally tie in with Spalding Flower Parade and will still go ahead despitethe fact that the showpiece event is not running for the first time since 1959.
Churches taking part include St Mary and the Holy Rood in Donington, which has a ‘Food around the world’ theme, St Peter and St Paul in Gosberton, which has the time of ‘Children’s Storytime’ and St Maryʼs, Sutterton, where visitors will be treated to a display of ‘Scarecrows - hobbies and pastimes’.
Those three begin on Saturday, with Donington finishing on Sunday, May 4 and Gobserton and Sutterton running until Monday, May 5.
On Thursday May 1 Gosberton Methodist Church will be holding a ‘Biblical Menagerie’ display, also running until May 5.
Churches in Moulton, Moulton Chapel, Long Sutton, Surfleet, Pinchbeck, Spalding, Holbeach, Fulney, Moulton Chapel, Weston, Fleet, Fleet Baptist and Weston Hills are also taking part.
A spokesman for Spalding Churches Together said: “There might not be a flower parade but from the churches’ point of view its business as usual.”
