Cuts cost people in Boston £57.75 per person

Government cuts will cost people in Boston £57.75 each by the end of 2012-13.

The figures were reported by the Guardian newspaper as part of an analysis of how cuts will impact on local authorities across the country.

The figures show Boston will be the hardest hit in Lincolnshire - with East Lindsey’s cuts equating to £55.90 a head and South Holland’s £52.90. The rest of the county will see an impact of below £50 a head.

Data released by the Guardian shows 18.2 per cent of children are in poverty here, 6.6 per cent of young people claim unemployment benefit and 22.8 per cent of the population were employed by the public sector.
