Three men ‘walking their dogs’ on a riverbank have been found guilty of trespassing in pursuit of game.

Robert Bobby Rowan, 21, of Lakeland View Caravan Park, Penrith, Allan William Wardman, 23, of Bewerley Cresent, Woodside, Bradford, and John Wilson, 21, of Hartford Bridge Caravan Site, Bedlington, appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The trio pleaded guilty to trespass in pursuit of game.

Prosecutor Paul Woods said police were called to land at Staunts Lane, Frithville, after the owner said she’d seen them ‘coursing hare’. He said police found them by the riverbank with two dogs.

The trio were unrepresented in court and when asked to respond Wardman said: “We had the dogs on the lead, we were just walking them at the side of the riverbank.”

Magistrates gave Wardman a £100 fine, £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge and Rowan and Wilson each a £150 fine, £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
