A 72-year-old woman from Boston has died in a crash on the M1 in Leicestershire.
Anne Pattrick received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene following a collision just after 8am, on Sunday, on the southbound carraigeway of the motorway at junction 21A.
The collision involved a Scania LGV, Ford Anglia, Ford Ka and a Mazda MX5.
Mrs Pattrick was the passenger in the Ford Anglia. The female driver of the vehicle, remains in University Hospitals of Coventry in a stable condition.
The passenger in the Ford Ka, also a woman, has since been discharged from the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Officers from East Midland’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to the collision.
Detective Constable 4406 Kath Orr said: “There were a number of vehicles travelling along the motorway yesterday morning (Sunday, July 27), if you witnessed the collision and haven’t yet spoken with the police please get in touch.”
