Equality law workshop for Boston employers

EMPLOYERS in Boston are being urged to attend a workshop to learn about the new equality law which is set to come into force.

The workshop is geared towards business owners, directors of small to medium-sized businesses and anyone in the business responsible for HR.

Wendy Ingrey, from HR Dept, which is organising the event, said: "The new legislation impacts on how you recruit and manage employees at work, whether you have one or 100.

"The seminar explains the key aspects of the new Act and provides practical examples on how the law has changed and what you need to do back in the workplace to reduce the risk of claims.

"This includes the new 'protected characteristics', the changes to the definitions of discrimination, harassment including third party harassment, changes to pre-employment health questions, pay secrecy, positive action and extended Tribunal powers."

The workshop, entitled HR Workshop – Equality Act 2010, takes place on September 29, from 10am-12noon, at Eventus, Northfields Industrial Estate, Market Deeping.

There is an entry fee for those attending.
