Euro event gets a little extra Polish
SHOPPERS in Boston had the chance to experience a taste of Eastern Europe when a Polish day visited the town centre.
Boston College hosted three events around Lincolnshire during the build-up to Christmas to celebrate some of the food, culture, language and music of Poland. Staff from the college pulled in crowds of people passing by the learning centres to sample a taste of traditional Polish food and drink, which included potato and onion pancakes, beetroot soups, sweets and biscuits and many different types of meats.
People attending the event were also invited to take part in Polish language workshops and competitions.
Aneta Labanowska, from Olysztyn, Poland, helped organise the event.
She said: “It was very busy and everyone seemed to like the pancakes. I had lots of questions about Polish history and famous people from my country. Many people went away with a greater understanding of the culture and language, which makes the whole event worthwhile.”
Boston College marketing manager Elaine Crozier added: “The event was a great way of bringing a taste of Polish culture into our community.
“It was wonderful to see so many people sampling traditional Polish food, taking part in activities and showing a general interest in the growing diversity of local communities.”
