Organisers of the two-day Flood Aid event are calling for the town to get together for an event that they hope will live long in the memory.

The concert, to be held a week on Saturday in Boston’s Central Park, will be followed by a family fun day on the Sunday.

Both days will raise cash to help victims of the December 5 tidal surge - many of whom are still counting the cost of the devastation.

Endeavour Radio’s Dylan Taylor, one of the team behind Flood Aid, said: “This event couldn’t come at a better time really, as some residents have only just started the process of moving back into their homes on Pulvertoft Lane and Edwin Street, one of the worst hit areas and need help.

“We know the community spirit exists from last year and people are willing to help one another regardless of background, so let’s all get together again for one awesome weekend we’ll all remember for a very long time and raise enough money to get those last suffering individuals or families back on their feet.”

The Flood Aid team has worked closely with the council since January on the event and has got an ex-Radio One stage for acts to perform from. Its security staff have just worked on The Isle of Wight Music Festival and people with Party In The Park experience are also on board to help.

Popular DJ Pete Martine is flying over from Ibiza especially for the occasion and is one of a number of DJs on the bill which also features a series of top local acts including 50 Sniffs, Bullet Tooth and Sam Sillett.

The Sunday family event features music, a bouncy castle and cream teas.

Tickets can be bought at www.floodaid2014.co.uk/tickets or at the Robin Hood, Black Sluice Café, Rob & Jan’s off-licence, The Eagle, Haven Café and Boston Old Times.

See the Flood Aid website for more details and check out next week’s paper for a full preview.
