Foodbank to return to normal from Friday night

News.

News.

A busy Boston food bank will return to normal service on Friday after spending the last few days helping flood victims.

The Zion Methodist Church in Brothertoft Road will not be offering emergency food supplies on the borough council’s flood emergency white vouchers from 4pm onwards.

After that the Food Bank will return to its normal operating procedure where those in need will be referred through the red voucher scheme.

Red vouchers are available from the council, partner agencies such as Lincolnshire County Council children’s services and others, including doctors, Citizens Advice Bureau, the Job Centre, Age Concern and Homestart.

This means that from that point, need will be assessed before the red vouchers are issued. They are normally issued for three occasions of crisis, but there is discretion to issue more in exceptional circumstances.

Food Bank officials said they did not foresee that flood hit victims will need the assistance of Food Aid other than what existed prior to the flood disaster.

They thanked Asda and Morrisons for their generosity in providing them with supplies.
