Former head charged with 25 offences of child porn

THE former owner and headteacher of a private Boston school has been charged with 25 offences of child pornography.

Simon McElwain, of Fen Houses Drove, Swineshead, stepped down as head of Conway School in Tunnard Street after his arrest in November last year.

The charges relate to a string of offences from January 1996 to November 2004.

McElwain, 47, is charged with attempting to take an indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child between January 1, 1996 and January 31, 1996.

He is also charged with 16 counts of making indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of a child between April 12 and June 17, 2004.

The final eight charges are of possessing indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of a child on November 10, 2004.

McElwain was due to appear at Boston Magistrates Court on Friday, but the case was adjourned at the request of the Crime Prosecution Service until June 10.

He has been on police bail since his arrest last November.

In March The Standard reported Conway School is now run by former teacher David Wilson and his wife Caroline. The headteacher is now Philomena Rynne.
