Amid a mixture of sunshine and showers which really “putt” competitors to the test, the event managed to raise £2,771 for the hospice.

“The day was a fabulous success,” said Laura Slayven, head of fundraising for the hospice. “A total of 20 local teams participated, with team Woodco taking a well-deserved, but closely-challenged, first place.”

The community was invited to the hospice’s Tea at 3 party on the lawn as part of the event. Despite a downpour, guests braved the elements and took refuge under the marquee. MP Matt Warman attended the event and toured the hospice to view the progress made since it opened as a facility to provide patients with palliative and end-of-life care in August, 2014.

Laura Slayven added: “Thank you to the local community for all they have done to support the hospice.”
