Eight suspected illegal immigrants hiding out in a Spanish lorry have been apprehended at Freiston by police and UK Border Agency officers.
Staff at a commercial site in Priory Road heard knocking in the back of the locked lorry at about 11.45am on Saturday and called the police.
Eight men – four from Iran, three from Vietnam and one from Syria - were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences. They were detained at Boston Police Station until UKBA officers arrived.
Three of the Iranians remain in immigration detention - but the others have been released on immigration bail in Glasgow, Leeds and Bedford while their cases are considered.
A Home Office spokesperson said: “We work closely with police to tackle illegal immigration.
“Where someone is found to have no legal right to remain in the UK we will take action to remove them.
“We would urge anyone with specific information about suspected immigration abuse to get in touch.”
