A pensioner from Kirton who was injured in a traffic collision in Peterborough has died in hospital.

Margaret James, of Willington Road, received treatment for minor injuries when the car she was travelling in collided with a lorry on the A1139 Fletton Parkway on the morning of January 8.

The 75-year-old was later dicharged from Peterborough City Hospital, but was admitted to Pilgrim Hospital on January 11, and died on January 20. A 69-year-old man, who was the driver of the car, suffered minor injuries, and the lorry driver, a 53-year-old Wisbech man, was uninjured.

Police in Cambridgeshire have now issued a fresh appeal for information about the incident, and have asked any witnesses to contact them.

Sgt Nigel Jennings, who is investigating, said: “I would urge anyone who saw the crash, or either of the vehicles just prior, to get in touch.”
