LETTER: Ask real people what they think about immigration

The immigration protest was a big success and a monumental snub to the council’s damp squib of a migration report which was, basically, a waste of everyone’s time and the expected outcome of all Bostonians.

Will the so-called politicians now go out and speak to the real people who matter? Don’t ask the managers, chief executives, directors etc of health authorities, police authorities, doctors surgeries etc.

These people won’t risk being seen as ‘upsetting the apple-cart’ or even being labelled as having racist views.

Please, please go and approach the people ‘on the ground’ and ‘frontline’. In other words have a quiet word with the nurses, chat with the receptionist at the doctor’s surgeries, flag down a police car and ask the traffic cops their views. Even talk to office staff in the council’s housing and benefits office and social security staff.

Then, and only then, will they get a true picture of what’s really happening in our sleepy little town.

I think everyone would like to see the findings of such a report.
