Make a splash! Swimming marathon is now open for entries

Friday, 10am - BOSTON'S annual charity swimming marathon is now open to entrants.

Swimathon 2010 is due to return to the Geoff Moulder Leisure Pool Complex in Rowley Road in April.

The event is in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care, with 70 per cent of the proceeds going to the charity.

The remainder will go towards the Swimathon Foundation.

The fundraiser is open to all ages, but those aged under 16 will need parental consent.

Swimmers can opt for distances of 1.5k (60 lengths), 2.5k (100), or 5K (200).

They can take part in teams of between two and five members. Schools can take part in teams of up to 30.

Those raising more than 100 will receive a T-shirt, or a towel and a T-shirt if they pass the 300 mark.

The sessions take place on: Friday, April 16, 9am-12noon, Saturday, April 17 8am-10.30am and 4-7pm.

Participation costs 9.50 (conc 5) for individuals, and 19 (conc 16) for teams.

Alternatively, you can swim when you want at any pool to achieve your target distance and/or fundraising amount.

This is 5.50 for individuals and 15.50 for teams.
