A burglar who raided the home of an 86-year-old woman while she slept has been jailed for 15 months at Lincoln Crown Court.

Levi Emmanuel entered the woman’s home in Monteith Crescent, Boston, in the early hours of August 10, as a 17-year-old boy kept a watch out.

Esther Harrison, prosecuting, said the woman’s son was staying overnight at her home and heard noises.

He went downstairs to see what it was, but could not find anything.

Later, it was discovered the pensioner’s handbag and her son’s wallet had been taken, along with £280 and jewellery.

The pair were identified from a neighbour’s CCTV and police later recovered some items at a property in Judge Close.

A wedding ring has never been traced.

Emmanuel, 21, of Ingram Road, Boston, and the 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted burglary in a hearing this week.

The boy was given an 18-month youth rehabilitation order, 150 hours’ unpaid work and a three-month curfew.

Judge Sean Morris said: “You have probably broken this woman’s heart.

“You should hang your heads in shame.”

Beris Brickles, for Emmanuel, said he had no fixed address and his benefits had lapsed.

Neil Sands, for the 17-year-old, said he was involved in drink and drugs at the time of the burglary but has since done his best to show he can stay out of trouble since the incident.
