The team behind Boston’s Christmas lights switch-on have set a date for November 27 – and vowed to make children at the heart of the event.

The 2013 event suffered from problems after it was arranged by Boston BID but then had to be taken on at the eleventh hour by a committee after the BID was voted out.

The events had to be cut down as a result.

A committee has already had several meetings to discuss the 2014 event.

Organisers hope to encourage each school to have their own choir sing at the switch-on – with a possible combined performance too.

Coun Paul Gleeson told The Standard: “We want something Christmassy and something involving the community where people get together, sing some carols and put the lights on.”
