The ‘May Queen’ has been celebrated by St Nicholas Primary School at a special church service.
In earlier times the month of May was, for the Anglican Church, known as the Month of Mary with special dedications and devotions in her honour. In celebration of this, the tradition of the May Queen returned to the school last month.
Rumer Cash was crowned May Queen during Sunday Mass, along with her two attendants Cathrine and Carrianne Woods.
The girls had their own special chairs placed in the chancel for the whole of May.
Rumer and her attendants also had the task of officially opening the May fayre in the community hall.
