A murder investigation has been launched into the death of a pensioner, police have announced today (Monday).
A police statement said emergency services were called to an address in Hedgefield Hurn, Gosberton, at about 4.30am on Thursday, when 69-year-old Margaret Morton was pronounced deceased at the scene.
They said that, following a post mortem examination, Mrs Morton’s death is being treated as suspicious, and a murder enquiry has been launched.
A 70 year-old man has been arrested and is currently on police bail until December 9.
Community Inspector Jim Tyner said, “Naturally, the news of this death and arrest is going to be shocking for the community in Gosberton. Anyone with any concerns or worries can speak to a member of their local team”.
DCI Martin Holvey, who is leading the enquiry, said police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and asked anyone with information to contact Lincolnshire Police on 101.
